There’s a moment, right around this time of year, when I can feel the air shift — not just outside, but within. The light begins to change, the buzz of summer starts to soften, and everything in me whispers: slow down, listen in.
Seasonal transitions carry powerful energetic portals. Nature knows this — just look at how the trees begin their gentle exhale as we move toward late summer. But in a world that expects us to stay on the same track year-round, we’re rarely given the space to honor that same softening within ourselves.
Instead of moving with the seasons, many of us push against them. We override our intuition. We stay on screens late, say yes when we mean no, and keep grinding through August like it’s just another month.
But here’s the truth I’ve learned again and again:
Your energy is sacred.
And seasonal shifts ask us to protect it more intentionally than ever.
Energetically, late summer holds an “in between” quality. It’s not quite harvest, not quite rest. For many of us, this liminal space brings up discomfort — because our culture glorifies clarity, productivity, momentum.
But energetically? August is more Earth element than fire. It’s grounding. It wants to root us, nourish us, stabilize the nervous system before we step into the shift of fall.
That’s why this time of year is so important for energy protection. You may be feeling more tired, more sensitive, more easily overwhelmed. That’s not weakness. That’s your body knowing the transition is near and asking you to soften into the shift rather than muscle through it.
Protecting your energy isn’t about building walls or retreating in fear. It’s about creating clarity. Boundaries. Spaciousness. So your system isn’t constantly reacting to chaos.
Here are the four main ways I protect my energy during seasonal shifts:
It’s easy to throw a face mask on and call it self-care — but protecting your energy runs deeper than surface rituals. It means actively releasing what’s not yours.
At the end of the day, I’ll often ask myself:
Sometimes it’s a breathwork practice. Sometimes it’s standing in the shower imagining everything that doesn’t belong to me flowing down the drain.
Simple, but powerful.
When seasons change, your nervous system gets the memo before your mind does. So I treat this time of year like an energetic recalibration.
I reduce stimulation where I can — less screen time, slower mornings, more meals in silence.
I swap out caffeine for grounding teas. I reintroduce touch-based rituals like warm oil self-massage and long baths with magnesium.
When my nervous system feels safe, I make better choices. I trust myself more. And I can move through transitions with clarity, not chaos.
Energy leaks often come from misplaced attention. Every time we spiral into someone else’s drama, overextend ourselves, or scroll aimlessly — we’re giving away our power.
So one of the most potent rituals I do in August is an attention audit.
Ask yourself:
This doesn’t mean cutting everything out — it’s more about becoming conscious. I set limits around technology. I stop checking emails late at night. I say no more often. And I make space to say yes to what actually feeds me.
One of the most important things I’ve learned is this:
Transitions deserve to be marked.
So many of us rush from one season, one project, one identity to the next without giving ourselves time to grieve, process, or recalibrate.
This year, I’m creating a seasonal transition ritual that I’ll also be sharing (and guiding) at the retreat in October. It includes:
Simple. Sacred. So needed.
You don’t need to do more to be worthy of rest. You don’t need to stay at your summer pace to be successful. You don’t need to keep showing up for everyone else while ignoring your own rhythms.
This season is an invitation.
To root in.
To come home.
To remember who you are when you’re not in reaction mode.
Let your energy be sacred. Let your rituals be slow. Let your boundaries be soft but strong. That’s the medicine of this moment — and it’s more than enough.
Your nervous system knows it’s time to reset.
This hand-picked ritual shelf is all about coming home to yourself through touch, scent, silence, and slow beauty. Think: grounding teas, loungewear for late summer mornings, digital detox tools, nervous system love.

It’s a space to recalibrate, reset, and root into your power.
We’ll be doing these rituals together — in community, in nature, and in deep reverence for the feminine.
And guess what?
I’m giving away one free retreat spot.
